Lower risk of overall mortality: Individuals with a vitamin D blood level of 30 ng/mL and above demonstrated a decreased risk of mortality. This includes a lower risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer mortality, with the lowest risk of death from all causes, cancer, and CVD noted in those maintaining vitamin D levels of at least 30 ng/mL. Additionally, individuals with vitamin D blood levels at or above 30 ng/mL also experienced a lower risk for respiratory tract infections, showcasing the importance of health diagnostics in monitoring vitamin levels. Older adults who reached a vitamin D blood level of at least 30 ng/mL reported a reduced risk of hip fractures and falls. Furthermore, pregnant women maintaining vitamin D levels of 30 ng/mL or higher were at the lowest risk of preterm birth and associated complications such as low birth weight and small for gestational age. These findings highlight the critical role of nutrition labs in assessing not only vitamin D levels but potentially other essential biomarkers, like the Omega-3 index, as part of comprehensive health evaluations, including allergy testing and blood tests.
The widely accepted optimal range for HbA1C is 4.5-5.7%. A result between 5.7-6.2% would indicate the development of 'prediabetes,' and a result over 6.2% would confirm diabetes, necessitating further testing for accurate health diagnostics. Regular blood tests, including those to monitor HbA1C levels, play a crucial role in assessing one's risk for various health issues. Individuals with an HbA1c between 4.5-5.7% have the lowest risk of overall mortality, showcasing the importance of proper nutrition labs in managing health. Moreover, this optimal range correlates with a lower risk of diabetes-related complications such as neuropathy, kidney disease, and blindness. Effective blood sugar management also reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, as poor regulation is associated with increased cardiovascular risks. Additionally, maintaining normal HbA1c levels is linked to a lower risk of cognitive impairment, as chronically elevated blood sugar may contribute to the development of dementia. In my practice, I often suggest combining HbA1C testing with other essential blood tests, such as allergy testing and the Omega-3 index, to provide a comprehensive view of an individual's health.
